What I do.
WordPress Development.
Using all the functionality of WordPress, including custom themes and Gutenberg block editing, I build websites that are fast, secure and easy to update. I focus on clean architecture, plugin strategy, performance and long-term maintainability, to ensure the websites I build stand the test of time.
Gutenberg and block development.
Keeping designs and brand guidelines consistent can be a challenge. With the WordPress Gutenberg block editor, I can create a set of custom-styled, reusable blocks that give your clients the freedom to add to and edit their website without compromising style. The Gutenberg block builder allows me to build sites that don’t require a developer to make every amend. My aim is to give them complete control over content with the confidence that everything will look as you designed it.
Behind the scenes, I build custom Gutenberg blocks using React JS to extend the WordPress block editor, allowing the blocks to integrate seamlessly with WordPress features such as predefined colour palettes, typography styles, and theme settings. This ensures the editing experience stays familiar while remaining aligned with the site’s branding.
To support flexible layouts, I use Inner-blocks, which let content blocks nest within a container, making grid or column-based layouts a breeze. And by modifying core blocks, like column layouts, I can build the site with standardised blocks that ensure consistency both throughout the build and into the future.
Performance and technical SEO.
I build performance and technical SEO into every project by writing clean, well-structured code, optimising and lazy-loading assets, and configuring caching so pages meet Core Web Vitals targets. I ensure images are properly compressed, code is minified, and the appropriate caching is in place. I also run the source code through W3C Validator to ensure it meets the latest coding standards.
